The KISC My Health Radio show this week is with The King of Cranberries, from Planet Cranberry, Stephen Lukawski, as he interviews Jim Hamilton with Peter Mingils
KISC My Health Radio: Jim Hamilton, Executive and Board Chair of Vitamin Angels
This week on KISC My Health Radio, cohosts Stephen Lukawski (known as The King of Cranberries and Captain Cran Man) and Peter Mingils are honored to interview Jim Hamilton, a North Star leader whose career spans more than 35 years across the global nutrition, health, wellness, and life sciences industries.
Brought to you on the Building Fortunes Radio and Youmongus Radio Network, and proudly supported by our corporate sponsors Pyure Organic and Planet Cranberry, this podcast dives deep into the journeys, lessons, and values of the pioneers who built our industry.
At KISC My Health Radio, our purpose is clear: we recognize today’s leaders, honor the pioneers who shaped the health landscape, and inspire the rising stars of tomorrow. Jim Hamilton’s career exemplifies this mission. A graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, Jim also pursued executive education at London Business School and INSEAD. His extensive experience successfully connects science and ingredients with manufacturing, commercialization, corporate strategy, and global leadership.
Shaping the Global Nutrition Industry
During our conversation, Jim shares insights from his remarkable corporate journey. At Roche and DSM Nutritional Products, Jim helped shape the international nutrition industry. He served as president of DSM Nutritional Products USA and on the global management team of DSM’s Human Nutrition business, overseeing North America.
Later, as president and CEO of Neptune Technologies & Bioressources, which became Neptune Wellness Solutions, Jim guided the company through significant transformation involving acquisitions, divestitures, and operational change, while also serving on its board. He subsequently brought his leadership to OmniActive Health Technologies as president and CEO, steering a global supplier of scientifically supported, naturally sourced health ingredients.
Beyond corporate boardrooms, Jim has dedicated his time to industry advancement. As a former chairman of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, he supported vital industry priorities, including product quality, consumer safety, scientific integrity, and public trust. His board service with MeriCal and Ayana Bio further reflects his ongoing contribution to nutritional-product manufacturing and emerging plant biotechnology.
Leadership, Mentorship, and Humanitarian Impact
One of the most meaningful chapters of Jim’s journey is his deep commitment to Vitamin Angels. After years of supporting its vital mission, he was appointed chair of its board, helping advance nutrition for pregnant women, infants, and young children in underserved communities around the world. This humanitarian work mirrors a central message of KISC My Health Radio: true leadership is measured by both professional achievement and the tangible difference we make in other people’s lives.
Throughout the episode, we explore the mentors, experiences, successes, setbacks, and defining decisions that shaped Jim’s path. We discuss courage, adaptability, integrity, and responsibility, alongside the personal sacrifices required to build businesses, navigate adversity, and serve something greater than individual success. We also address how experienced veterans can guide the next generation and help rising stars become tomorrow’s role models.
